Humboldt City Board Minutes

The Humboldt City Board met in special session on Thursday, August 25, 2005.  The meeting was called to order by Chairman Allen Schmeichel at 5:45 p.m.  Trustees present were Larry Skari and Theresa Muth.

The purpose of the meeting was to discuss the proposed addition to the Maintenance Building at 309 W. 2nd Ave.  The quote from banner for engineering the project was $27,000.00 in addition to the project cost.  After discussion, it was determined that a contractors meeting would be held, inviting all local contractors to review the project and give opinions, prior to committing to the cost of engineering through Banner and Associates.  The meeting is tentatively scheduled for September 12th, 2005 at 7:00 p.m. unless a date sooner can be accomplished.

Other options were also discussed.

The emergency sirens were discussed.  The unit was struck by lightening earlier this year.  The cost to repair is in excess of $1750.00.  Federal Emergency Management Association is requiring the Town to up grade to new battery back up system.  The system up grade will be approximately $18,000.00.  A 50% grant is available through Homeland Security.  Additional funds of $1500.00 were also raised by the Fire Department at the Street Dance this year. The City Board would like to thank all of the volunteers who helped with the dance.  A motion was made by Muth and seconded by Skari to have the paper work completed for the grant to insure that the new sirens will be installed in the early spring of 2006.  The motion carried.

With no further business, a motion was made by Schmeichel and seconded by Skari to adjourn the meeting at 6:10 p.m.  The motion carried.
