Special Meeting Minutes

The Humboldt City Board met in special session on Thursday, September 8th, 2005 at the City Shop.  The meeting was called to order by Chairman Allen Schmeichel at 7:30 p.m.  Trustees present were Theresa Muth and Larry Skari.  Theresa Muth took the minutes until the finance officer arrived from the Natural Gas Board meeting at 7:50 p.m.

The purpose of the meeting was to obtain input on an addition and remodeling to the Maintenance Building.  Local contractors were sent an invitation to the meeting by mail.  Contractors present were John Jarding and Arnold Stinson.  Dan Lueth contacted the finance officer by phone to indicate that he is interested in the project however due to football he was unable to attend the meeting.

Currently the board is looking at adding a 24’ x 60’ addition to the north side of the building, a new roof, side the whole building and several other miscellaneous remodeling items.

Items discussed included the sturdiness of the building, overall condition of the existing building, and how the addition would affect the fire departments access to the east vehicle entrance.

Building a separate free standing building next to the fire hall, attaching an addition to the existing fire hall and building a new building and sharing it with the township were all discussed.

Another option was to tear down the old building, leave the foundation and build a new structure on the existing foundation.

The township board will be contacted for their input.

At a minimum the board would like to do the minimum amount of upgrades this fall to winterize the existing building.

With no further business, a motion was made by Schmeichel and seconded by Skari to adjourn the meeting at 8:40 p.m.  The motion carried.
